Monday – Read Psalm 30:6-12

How did the Psalmist feel in verse 6?

How did he feel in verse 7? Why?

How did he respond to his feelings of dismay?

How did he feel in verse 11 and 12 after knowing that God had heard his prayer?

What hope does that give us?

Tuesday – Read Philippians 4:4-7

Why can we rejoice and not be anxious about things in our lives?

What can we do instead of worrying?

How does that set us free from anxiety?

If we will pray, what does God give us?

Pray about the things that are causing you worry and concern.

Wednesday – Read II Chronicles 7:11-16

Who needs to be pray for any land to be healed?

Why are humility and seeking God’s way key to His people praying effectively?

Using this passage as the framework, take time to pray for our nation.

Thursday – Read Psalm 100:1-4

What reasons for joy does the psalmist mention here?

What are some ways of expressing our joy does he mention?

Take time to give God thanks for who He is and for all that He has done in your life.

Friday – Read Romans 8:28-39

What hope does this passage give us?

Think of a time that God was able to work a difficult situation for good in your life. How did that build your faith? How did it give you hope?

What does it mean to you that nothing can separate you from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus?

Take time to give God thanks for His love and his work in your life.

Home Study 1-23-12 to 1-28-12

Monday – Read John 15:9-14

How are we as the people in Jesus’ church called to treat each other?

Who is our example?

Can we love like this on our own?

What does it take for us to love like this?

Tuesday – Read John 13:34-35

Why is how we love and treat each other in Jesus’ church so important?

What does the love that we show others tell them about Jesus in us?

How do these verses challenge you?

How will you respond?

Wednesday – Read I Corinthians 13:1-3

Why is speaking and acting in love so much more important than the more splashy things we might do for Jesus?

What do we gain if we sacrifice without love?

Why do you suppose God included this passage in His word?

How does it challenge you? What will you do?

Thursday – Read I Corinthians 13:4 -13

Which of these qualities of love do you find the easiest to do?

Which do you find to be the most challenging to do?

Why is love the greatest?

Pray and ask God to help you to grow in love.

Friday – Read II Timothy 1:3-12

Paul wrote this letter to Timothy, a young pastor, while he, Paul, was imprisoned and his life was soon to end.

Why does Paul tell Timothy he did not need to live in fear?

How does this apply to us today?

What things do you fear?

How might Jesus give you courage and strength to live in victory?

Take time to pray for the courage and power of Jesus to fill you.
